Small Business Marketing: Take It Offline! (and a #FF)

Happy Friday to you! Today’s Small Business Marketing Moment is all about taking those online relationships to another level.  That level? Offline!  The motivation behind this post? My #FollowFriday, Robert Dempsey!  Robert is currently living in Thailand “building empires for fellow entrepreneurs using technology, psychology, and marketing.”  That’s a mouthful, but what it boils down to is that Robert has a common sense approach to marketing, that also employs innovative technology to make it happen.  He had a guest post just recently over at Mark Schaefer’s blog, {grow}.  He’s also someone I’ve had the opportunity to Skype with recently and who helped inspire this post.  And if the video isn’t your thing (don’t worry, it’s not long!), he put together an awesome Infographic on the topic this week!

Now, onto the video!  If you’re catching this in your viewer, click here.

I really do have to get better at these still shots…

@EricaAllison Hi Erica - I would love to chat with you when it's convenient for you... Just ping me : ) "gacconsulting" Have a wonderful Sunday : )

@bdorman264 LOL, Bill. I knew you'd pick up on the background comment. It was a poor choice of words; I don't have a yard guy. It was the city maintenance crew roaming my neighborhood for random yard clippings to pick up. Then the recycling crew came by. Good times on a Friday morning. Yes, we do have different levels to those relationships and reaching out to them makes them all the more meaningful. Glad to give you a shout out - I'm sure that won't be our last call, my friend. Busy weekend here. One client event last night; another tonight! I'm too old for these night time gigs.

@Soulati @ginidietrich @DannyBrown @MarkHarai @jonbuscall @johnfalchetto Hey, I like that line of thinking; I'm planning my vacation now. I put it off because I didn't think I could afford it but who knows, huh?

Classic; as your yard guy is riding by behind you he's jumping up and down and making silly faces because he knows he's being filmed............. There are certainly different levels to relationships and sometimes it just takes reaching out to make an impact and taking it to a more meaningful level. You like associating with the people you consider friends and who knows what opportunities will present themselves down the road. Similar to Mark's post this week, I'm not interested in numbers per se but I am interested in active engagement with interesting people that I also like and by taking it offline it, it allows you to know this person just a little bit better. Thanks for the mention in the video..........not quite my 15 minutes of fame, but I'll take it; it made me smile. I hope your weekend is going well.

@Mark_Harai Thanks, Mark~ Robert is a sharp cookie, isn't he? You're not so bad yourself...when shall we Skype? :)

@Soulati @ginidietrich @DannyBrown @MarkHarai @jonbuscall @johnfalchetto Puh -lease...nip and tuck, facelift...Michael Jackson bleaching (what the heck are you bleaching?). You're gorgeous and so full of spunk, that's all that would come through on a Vlog, my dear. The trick? Just start doing them. My technical abilities and timing have definitely improved, but I had to not let those things be my deal breakers when I pushed 'record' 6 months ago. Now, I'm glad I didn't pay too much attention to all of that on the front end or I wouldn't have made as many videos as I have. Now, travel plans...I'm with you! Let's get the kiddos squared away and it's Thelma and Louise into the sunset (minus the tragic ending or the gun fire or the murder).

Hi Erica - I love your video miss - they are very warm : ) I had an opportunity to chat with Robert via Skype as well, and he's just a sharp guy. He really know his stuff with the online business world and how to leverage technology to deliver cutting edge content. He's one guy you want to build a relationship with offline! Have a wonderful weekend Eric and let's chat soon : )

Holy CAW! (That's Harry Carey speak from my Chicago roots, you know, Southern Gal.) Thanks for the tag, and I couldn't agree more. It's a goal of mine to pick up the phone to connect with those I'm spending more than exorbitant time with online. @GiniDietrich will just have to wait; she's too busy with Spin Sucks Pro (nice to see you there yesterday, BTW!); @DannyBrown lives in Canada and I will Skype the man before I do that international calling thing; @shakirhdawud...you're on my list! Oh, and let's not forget there's an ulterior motive for becoming fast BFFs with those the likes of @markharai and @jonbuscall @johnfalchetto and now @rdempsey...can you draw the correlation? They all live abroad! AND, I need a place to stay when I come on holiday! Thailand is my absolute fave country -- so many gems, so little time; France -- oolala!; Sweden and Costa Rica -- here we come, Erica! It's Saturday; I owe you a mini blog post because you so graciously returned to The SMB Collective to help me out with 2 wonderful observations and the second one I'm using in a post...uhm, will you please coach me on doing some vlogging? I MUST get on board after a nip and tuck, facelift, microdermabrasion, hair cut, teeth whitening, facial, and Michael Jackson bleaching.

Offline is awesome, Erica (as is Robert - and I need to start visiting his blog MUCH more!). Words (or videos) are great - but they're still one way. Two way chat or interaction (even if not in the flesh)? Now THAT's where the magic happens. :) PS - What the deuce? There's waaaay too much gini dietrich in your Tags sidebar - get it sorted!!! ;-)

Hi Erica great video. I'm with you 100% to get people offline as soon as possible. That's where the real relationships can form. Something about talking with people one-on-one, or even better face-to-face just makes that connection much more powerful. I look forward to our next call. Keep Skyping and enjoy the weekend!

@faybiz Thanks! It's comfy!

Good message! and great location!
